What I offer

What I offer

I offer an open-ended number of 50 minute counselling sessions. I currently only have a limited number of sessions available available on Fridays. These can be by phone, video call or in person in an accessible space in Stourbridge town centre.

We will review our work together at regular intervals to ensure that we both feel that we are working in your best interests together.

I work in a trauma informed, integrative way with a person-centred foundation.  This means that I may use different styles of counselling depending on your needs.  However, you are always at the heart of the work we do together.  We will work at your pace and to your agenda.  You may choose to tell me if you have a clinical diagnosis but my focus is on your individual experience rather than treating a condition.

I am accommodating to everyone and have a special interest in offering affirming counselling to people in the LGBTQ+ community.

Social media

Although I do have an online and social media presence, I aim to keep my work life and my personal life separate.  I do not ‘google’ clients or look at clients’ social media profiles and will not connect in any way with clients such as becoming ‘friends’ or ‘following’.  I prefer any information about you to come from you.  I ask that you respect my privacy outside of our work together and equally ask me if there is anything you think you need to know about me.

Out of session contact

I will respond to emails or texts around cancellation or rearranging of sessions.  I will not enter into any communication about our work together via email or text, as I simply cannot guarantee privacy and confidentiality.  I do not necessarily check messages daily.  If you need to contact me please leave me a voicemail and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Ethical Body

I am an accredited member of and adhere to the Code of Ethics and Good Practice of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) (which can be found here www.bacp.co.uk/ethical_framework)

Part of my commitment to the BACP code is that I seek regular supervision from a qualified practitioner to ensure that we are working safely and ethically together.  Issues raised in our sessions may be discussed but I do not identify you in any way.  Your privacy is of utmost importance to me.

Notes

I keep very brief notes from our session.  You are not identifiable from these notes and you can request to see them at any time.  I am required to keep your notes for 5 years after we have worked together, after this time they will be destroyed.
